In you have played Wrath of the Lich King; you will get to encounter beasts and creatures that are so beyond your imagination that it's difficult to comprehend their appearances, uses, or behavior. Some of them are so foreign looking that they become stuff of nightmares. An example is a Jormungar. You will get to meet these creatures all over Northrend. These creatures will definitely give you the chills once you meet them. Their appearances are so extraordinary that they verge on the terrifying. If you want to know more about these creatures, then read on. You might need all the information once you encounter them.
This is the first question that pops into everyone's mind once they see a Jormungar. What in heaven's name are these creatures? When you look at them, they seem like a cross between a snake, a dragon, and a worm. Definitely reptilian looking, but that is again refuted by the "fur" or "hair" that runs along its muscular body. The body looks almost squashed or flat and covered with scales, with ice-like bones poking from the sides. There seems to be no faces on these creatures. Instead, what you'll see are rows upon rows of sharp, chisel-like teeth. This alone should spark fear in any creature who gets to meet these terrible creatures. If you're already scared by my description alone, wait until you get to meet them.
According to lore, the creatures have been living in Northrend since time immemorial. They can only be found on the continent. However, they only lived under the ground. It is said that the Nerubians used the creatures as laborers. They were used to cut holes and tunnels in the ice and rock. Even one Jormungar can do the job that would take human hands years to accomplish, thus they were highly valued by the Nerubians. Thanks to the creatures, the Spider People were able to make a vast kingdom beneath the ground.
When the Scourge wiped out the ancient civilization of the Nerubians, the tame and controllable Jorunmgas began to run amok and tried to escape their underground dwellings. They began to come up the surface, devouring anything that comes along their war, may it be rock, ice, or living creature. They will be one of the mobs that you will encounters in the expedition. There is no telling if a Jormngar can still be possibly taned or controlled. This is unlikely because life any creature with newfound freedom, they’d resent the hands of a master controlling them again.
